Solutions for Microsoft Open CloudServer (OCS) Specification

Paris, France — October 30, 2014 — ZT Systems, a leading provider of purpose-built solutions for hyperscale compute and storage customers, today showcased server blades based on the Microsoft Open CloudServer (OCS) specification version 2 at the Open Compute EU Summit. Delivering energy-efficient performance with outstanding cost effectiveness, OCS solutions from ZT include blades, enclosures and racks.

Working closely with Microsoft engineers, ZT Systems developed solutions in compliance with Open CloudServer specification v2 mechanical, thermal, and enclosure management specifications. For reduced total cost of ownership in hyperscale environments, ZT enhanced the solution’s enclosure by implementing quick-release latches and thumbscrews throughout for easy, tool-less serviceability. ZT solutions based on this specification can enable substantial cost savings, power efficiency gains, and reductions in deployment and service times relative to traditional servers.

“ZT Systems is pleased to work with Microsoft to help grow the partner ecosystem around Open CloudServer specification v2,” said Brent Miller, ZT Systems Vice President of Business Planning and Marketing. “Our hyperscale customers are seeking solutions that provide cost effectiveness, energy efficiency and ease of serviceability. We feel this platform presents an attractive new option to improve on these metrics in the largest datacenters.”

As an Open Compute Gold member, ZT Systems shares Microsoft’s commitment to fostering more efficient datacenters and the adoption of cloud computing.

“The Open CloudServer specification v2 includes significant new performance enhancements,” said Kushagra Vaid, General Manager of Server Engineering at Microsoft. “ZT Systems has the ability to deliver OCS-based solutions that drive efficiency in customer data centers through design enhancement, supply chain expertise and consistent execution.”
